Dr. Rajkumar Venkatadri (CV)

Raj is a part of our lab since March 2014. He obtained his PhD from VIT University, India for his research on anti-cancer drug development from medicinal plants. His first Post Doctoral Fellowship was with Johns Hopkins School of Medicine where he was involved in research on anti-cytomegalovirus drugs. During his tenure at Hopkins, his research focused on the effects of anti-CMV compounds on cellular signaling pathways.

At Dr. Azad's lab, Raj is involved in research on pulmonary fibrosis and breast cancer. His main interest is on the impact of oxidative stress-regulated angiogenesis in pulmonary fibrosis. His research focuses on employing ROS inhibitors and investigating the inter-relation of signaling pathways during the
onset of pulmonary fibrosis. In vivo experimentations using the Bleomycin induced pulmonary fibrosis animal model system is currently underway. His breast cancer projects aim to elucidate the mechanism of action of some of the promising anti-cancer drugs. He is currently trying to understand the association of miRNAs and cell death induced to breast cancer cells by anti-cancer drugs. Raj has a Bachelor of Science (Biochemistry) and a Master of Science (Biomedical Genetics) Degrees from India.
